Every Joypad Guild review carries a score out of 10 on a gold shield. Scores use one decimal place and the full scale.
- 9.0 to 10: Essential. Among the best of its kind.
- 8.0 to 8.9: Great. Easy to recommend, with minor faults.
- 7.0 to 7.9: Good. Worth playing if the genre appeals.
- 5.0 to 6.9: Mixed. Real strengths and real problems.
- Below 5.0: Hard to recommend in its current state.
Our rules
Reviewers finish the main story or play at least 30 hours of an open-ended game. We test on retail hardware. Scores are updated only when a patch materially changes the game, and the original score stays visible.
